For that goal we are seeking a versatile and dedicated

Senior Java Software Engineer

to join their team in Bulgaria (from their Sofia office, hybrid or remote).

The Senior Java Software Engineer role is ideal for an experienced candidate ready to drive a transition to a cloud-native, microservices-based architecture on AWS for a K-12 math education platform. This role involves adopting modern technologies while ensuring the platform supports versioning, publishing, and deep analytics to enhance student learning.

Mentor your colleagues to build a scalable architecture, promote best practices, and deliver high-quality software in alignment with educational goals.Implement analytics to track student progress and collaborate on math engines for creating, rating, and solving problems, driving adaptive learning features.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the migration to a Java microservices architecture on Kubernetes in AWS, utilizing GraphQL for efficient data handling and Terraform for infrastructure as code.
  • Oversee the entire SDLC from planning to CI/CD deployment, ensuring test automation and reliability at scale.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product and analytics teams, providing clear updates and aligning engineering with the educational mission.

Requirements:

  • A stable work history with at least a few periods of 3 years of continuous employment with the same employer in IT industry – mandatory
  • Experience in a product software company – mandatory
  • 5+ years of Java and Spring Boot expertise for microservices.
  • AWS and Kubernetes experience; Terraform for infrastructure automation.
  • Proficiency in SQL and ideally Hibernate for data persistence.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD and test automation.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally and influence key stakeholders.

    For our client, the H2Start project in Stara Zagora, we are currently searching for a motivated and experienced

    Head of Innovation and Knowledge Management

    to support the development of the project’s innovation ecosystem.

    The H2Start project is one of the largest scientific projects in Bulgaria, with total funding of EUR 30M, including EUR 15M directly from the EC Horizon Europe Teaming for Excellence programme and EUR 15M from national co-funding. The project is aimed at the creation of a new hydrogen technologies-based research and innovation center in Stara Zagora at Trakia University. The project includes the Bulgarian Hydrogen Association, as well as the Italian POLITO and CNR as international partners. The project will require a high speed of organisational development and significant capacity growth to ensure high-quality research and strong sustainability during the implementation period until 2031. The objective is to reach EUR 3M annual revenues from sources other than the initial investments.

    Requirements for the Candidate:

    • Experience in innovation development and innovation support activities
    • Excellent knowledge of Bulgarian and good knowledge of English (both oral and written)
    • Excellent communication skills and willingness to work with people
    • Flexibility and good negotiation skills
    • Good time management skills and ability to maintain set priorities

    Preferences:

    • Formal higher education or professional development in the field of innovation development/management
